Bryson City - august 2025

Unlike our normal go, go, go mountain trips we took a pause and relaxed on this trip. We spent a weekend in Bryson City at the R Four Collective “Dogwood Branch” Cabin with the family. Just up the mountain from Fontana Lake and surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains we had a perfect little spot for the long weekend. Centralized between Nantahala and Bryson City we had plenty of activities to partake in. We spent an afternoon fly fishing the Upper Nantahala River, stepped back in time touring the historic homes and barns at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center and then we even made our way to Cataloochee Valley for a casual hike. The valley is always a favorite of ours, we can fish the small creeks around it, get away from all the people and even on occasion see a herd of elk roaming the meadows. This gallery is just some of the photos we took as a family on our trip to Bryson City.

Postcard moments from a late summer morning in Cataloochee Valley. Fresh mountain air, cool creeks, and elk moving quietly through the fields made it feel like time slowed down. Hard not to imagine trading the rush of everyday life for the calm of this place.
